Reflecting on GreenerU’s landmark 2025

2025 presented significant challenges for the climate and higher education ecosystem, requiring many organizations to navigate shifting priorities and lengthening decision cycles. Throughout this period, GreenerU remained a steady partner.

We focused on what we do best: disciplined execution, technical excellence, and consistent investment in the capabilities our partners need to decarbonize their facilities. And we did it while supporting each other.

Here’s what we’re proud of from the year.

Proving our expertise

In 2025, we expanded the depth and breadth of what we can deliver for existing buildings—especially on complex electrification and implementation work.

  • A geothermal milestone. We delivered a major geothermal project—an important step forward in our ability to execute sophisticated thermal electrification.
  • Industry recognition for equitable decarbonization. We were honored to receive the BE+ Green Building Showcase’s inaugural Building Decarb Intervention award for our work advancing equitable decarbonization strategies.
  • Broadening our reach. We expanded our impact across community institutions, non-profits, museums, houses of worship and affordable housing—organizations that often have complex buildings, tight constraints, and a strong desire to lead.
  • Lowering the barrier to action. We continued building “on-ramps” that help organizations start decarbonizing with confidence – patiently, transparently, and over time.
  • Growing the team. We welcomed Craig, Adam, Joey, and Nicole to GreenerU, expanding our capacity to support customers from early planning through implementation.
  • Stronger digital resources. We refreshed our website, expanded our resources library, hosted and shared more webinars and introduced new ways for prospective partners to engage early in their decarbonization journeys.
Looking ahead

2025 reinforced something we’ve believed for a long time: the work continues even when the environment gets noisy. When progress can feel uncertain, we’re reminded that leadership often shows up locally – one institution, one decision, one project at a time. By focusing on what we can control, we’ve expanded your impact and ours in the journey to decarbonizing our existing buildings.

To our clients, partners, and team: thank you for the trust, collaboration, and shared urgency.

The work continues.
