Driving climate action with building decarbonization: lessons from four campuses

On June 10, 2026, GreenerU and Second Nature co-hosted a webinar with guests from four campuses (Babson College, Clark University, Southern New Hampshire University, and the University of Vermont) about how they are leveraging building decarbonization assessments to advance electrification and reduce total cost of ownership. This panel highlighted different institutional contexts and strategies, from piloting technologies in individual buildings to integrating building-level decisions into broader campus energy systems.

Panelists discussed how these studies are helping prioritize investments, test approaches, and navigate key challenges such as central plant integration, off-loop buildings, capital replacement schedules and long-term infrastructure decisions. Attendees gained practical insights into how building-level analysis can serve as a catalyst for broader campus decarbonization progress. The building decarbonization assessments discussed in the webinar were provided by GreenerU through the Second Nature Pro Bono Opportunities. In addition to the campus stories, GreenerU engineers shared more about things to look for on your campus to advance building decarbonization.
