GreenerU is a City of Boston Building Decarbonization Advisor Program (BDAP) partner, providing free advisory services to Boston property owners whose buildings need to comply with BERDO’s emissions reductions.

As a vendor for BDAP, GreenerU will work with building owners to develop preliminary “Zero-Over-Time” (ZOT) plans that outline foundational steps for decarbonization, such as:

  • energy efficiency upgrades
  • electric system conversions
  • renewable energy opportunities

Selected participants will receive free decarbonization planning and expert guidance to help meet BERDO compliance. In addition, the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) offers funding for eligible buildings to support specific assessments, design studies, and/or energy-efficient equipment purchases.

Who should apply

BDAP is open to non-residential or mixed-use buildings of more than 20,000 square feet located in Environmental Justice neighborhoods, in addition to some multi-unit dwelling types. Qualified properties may be owned by nonprofits or small businesses, or provide housing for low-income tenants.
