Key to GreenerU's success with educational institutions is our work in change management—recognizing that the toughest problems of today require changes to deeply ingrained institutional and individual behaviors. GreenerU’s change management staff undergo rigorous training in facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and process development. We are skilled in drawing out diverse voices and helping groups navigate difficult discussions.
To prepare for a more sustainable future, schools need to develop a baseline against which to benchmark themselves. GreenerU’s change management team will perform data collection, research, and analysis from which to establish benchmarking data, often the first step toward developing comprehensive sustainability strategic plans. We support schools in managing their baseline data by using AASHE STARS, offering third-party verification and expertise on credit definitions, clarifying data collection, and optimizing scores. We also have the technical skills to assist with climate action planning.
To solve today’s greatest challenges, we need to hear from a diverse set of voices. With extensive experience with higher education planning and decision-making processes, we are skilled in drawing out diverse voices and helping groups navigate difficult discussions. We use stakeholder mapping to gain an understanding of the stakeholder landscape and a strategic approach to engaging stakeholders to address key concerns. We have also developed customized tools for effective communication between teams and among team members in a timely manner.
Change begins right from the start of your planning process, not once the plan is launched. The process you use to engage your community sets an inclusive tone and builds trust and valuable relationships for when it is time to implement. GreenerU facilitates the creation of stakeholder-based strategic plans and their implementation. With a background in behavior theory, we apply concepts and strategies for both individual and organizational change. Our in-house expertise in psychology and behavior theory enables GreenerU to help institutions gain consensus on goals, strategies, and tactics, developing an actionable strategic plan with built-in accountability. Throughout all planning phases, we keep the process moving.
Sustainability is about building in-house capacity—not relying on consultants to create change. It’s one thing for a consultant to help an institution develop a strategic plan and create goals. But when the time comes to implement those plans, is your staff prepared to move forward? GreenerU’s experienced change management team offers executive coaching, staff trainings, and workshops on topics ranging from behavior change theory to meeting facilitation to fostering a feedback culture in the workplace. Partnering with AASHE, GreenerU has facilitated numerous workshops that have resulted in the advancement of sustainability programs and initiatives at institutions across the country.
