GreenerU is excited to be selected as a vendor for the City of Boston’s newly launched Building Decarbonization Advisor Program. This initiative, part of the Building Emissions Reduction and Disclosure Ordinance (BERDO), is designed to assist eligible building owners in identifying and developing decarbonization solutions and supporting Boston’s commitment to a net-zero future by 2050.
As a BERDO vendor, GreenerU will work with building owners to develop preliminary “Zero Over Time” (ZOT) plans that outline foundational steps for decarbonization, such as:
Selected participants will receive free decarbonization planning and expert guidance to help meet BERDO compliance. The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) offers funding for eligible buildings to support specific assessments, design studies, or energy-efficient equipment purchases.
The Building Decarbonization Advisor Program is open to residential buildings with fifteen or more units that meet specific criteria and non-residential or mixed-use buildings over 20,000 square feet located in Environmental Justice neighborhoods. Qualified properties may be owned by nonprofits, small businesses or provide housing for low-income tenants.
If you are interested in this program and want to be considered for the first round of participants, applications are due to the City of Boston by December 2, 2024. Work is slated to begin in January 2025. For more information and to apply, click here.
Since BERDO’s initial rollout in 2021, GreenerU has played a vital role in helping clients achieve their BERDO goals, offering practical strategies that align with each client’s resources and objectives. We look forward to supporting Boston’s path to sustainable, low-carbon buildings and assisting under-resourced and nonprofit property owners on their journey toward BERDO compliance. Stay tuned for updates on client success stories as we support the City’s journey to a greener, net-zero future.
